Song context

Meenakshi (Rani Mukerji) has a world of her own, until the day she meets Surya (Prithviraj). Convinced that he's the man of her dreams, Meenakshi decides to learn the Malayalam language (the language of Kerala, among other cities, in South india) to please Surya. Her young teacher recommends to her the TV channel Midnight Masala. According to him, she'll learn the language in a snap of fingers ! Seduced, Meenakshi turns the TV on... and falls into dreamland !
